Paul took a deep breath and slowly let it out. The way Matt was looking at him right now sent off fireworks in all the best places. He needed to get himself back under control. But something about Matt had him off-kilter in the worst way. Every damn time their eyes met.

Right. Time to stop standing around like the village idiot. “So should we go find a room?” Fuck! Paul felt his cock thicken as all sorts of images flooded his mind at the unintentional innuendo.

“Joshua! Cut it out!”

“Hmm? Oh! I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. I was too busy enjoying the lovely pictures you painted for me. Please note I had nothing to do with putting them there, by the way. Just in case you were accusing me of something.”

Paul suppressed the deep-seated need to fidget. Maybe they had been all his ideas.

“Oh, no! I pretty much had the same ideas myself,” Joshua chuckled. “He’d look so beautiful on your—”

“Do you remember much about the layout of the club from last night, Matt?” Paul focussed hard on the man in front of him and tried to ignore his incorrigible lover.

“Spoilsport.”

“Ah…no…not much,” Matt replied, looking left and right as if his curiosity had been piqued.

“Come on, I’ll give you a quick tour before we head upstairs.”

Paul led Matt through the club, giving him a brief run-down on what was where, making sure to point out the kitchen, in case Matt needed to find it on his own for a quick snack in the future, and introduce him to the staff.

Leading the way upstairs, Paul stopped in front of the first guest room he came to and opened the door, stepping back to let Matt have a look inside.

“How about this one?”

Matt looked around then took a few tentative steps into the room.

“Is this the room I was in last night? When you first brought me in for the doctor to patch me up?”

“Sure is. I’m surprised you remember. You were pretty out of it when you got here.”

Matt took his time gazing around. He looked…rather sad. Paul couldn’t explain it any other way. Matt just stood in the middle of the room and stared at the few pieces of furniture that came with the space.

“If you don’t like it, we can—”

“No. No, it’s fine. I mean…good…it’s all good. Thank you.” Matt gave him a bright smile that didn’t quite look like it wanted to be there.

Paul looked around, really seeing the room for the first time.

“There’s not much here, I know, not like you had bef—” Matt turned away, and Paul felt like a complete idiot. He didn’t usually let his mouth run away with him like that, but Matt made him want to open up and connect—which was also the point at which he was guaranteed to get himself into trouble. “Shit! I’m sorry, I didn’t—”

“It’s okay.” Matt looked so lost and tired right then, standing in a bare room with a single bag of clothes and a small box of trinkets representing all of his worldly possessions.
